The Concept

Inside Rock N Roll Sushi, the pulsing spirit of the 80s hair metal era collides with contemporary American-style sushi in an electrifying dining experience. This innovative concept turns up the volume on traditional Japanese cuisine, creating bold, amplified flavors that would make Mötley Crüe proud. The atmosphere rocks with iconic music videos and concert footage playing on screens throughout, while rolls named after legendary bands and guitar heroes take center stage on the menu. It's more than a meal – it's a front-row seat to a time when hair was big, guitars were loud, and breaking conventions was the only way to live.

The Special Sauce

When we started the re-branded process with Rock N Roll Sushi, we faced an interesting challenge: make sushi approachable for suburban Americans who might be intimidated by raw fish, while breathing new life into their rock-themed brand. We knew we needed to move beyond the played-out guitar and flames imagery that screamed "1990s" rather than "fresh, exciting dining experience." Our solution? We created a sleek, modern visual identity that captured rock's rebellious spirit through bold typography and electric color schemes, while letting the food and lifestyle photography take center stage. We made sure every visual element, from the menu design to the interior aesthetics, communicated that this was a place where you could break the rules and have fun with your food – no chopsticks required. The results speak for themselves: Rock N Roll Sushi has exploded from 40 franchise locations to over 70 in just four years, making it the fastest-growing sushi concept in the US. Proof that with the right branding, you can take any cuisine and make it sing to your target market.
